Practical Theology and Leadership
I love studying, applying and teaching the Bible and my prayer is that my students will catch the passion.

Teaching Philosophy

It’s important to create an environment of trust and mutual learning. I share with students what I’ve gained through my study of the Scriptures, important literature and actual ministry experience. Students are then encouraged to process and internalize this through reflection, dialogue and real-life examples.

Background

Emily and I returned to pastoral ministry in 2002 following a wonderful time on faculty at Briercrest College and Seminary. I serve as the lead pastor of Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church in Chilliwack, BC. Em and I are thankful for our 5 children, their spouses and our 10 grandkids. Our favourite pastimes include hiking, canoeing, camping and being outdoors with our dog as often as possible.

I learned not to take the easy answers when dealing with Scripture and theology, but to deal with uncomfortable and challenging questions, wrestling with both the text and my own biases to best determine what is true and God-pleasing.
